We do not build for the beach. Every housing is turned from a single billet, sealed three times, and taken down until the water tells us where it fails.

Then it is taken down again. Nothing leaves the bench that has not returned from hadal pressure with its glass intact and its needle honest. Fifty-seven years of the same refusal to make things prettier than they are strong.
